MR. LAU was born on the 3rd September 1914 in Shandong Province, China. He fled Chairman Mao's Revolution to go work in Hong Kong to send money back home to his family as times in China were difficult.
Hong Kong is where he learnt and developed the skills of Peking Cookery and subsequently moved the whole family to Manchester where after spending a number of years working in London and Liverpool his three son's opened Summer Palace in Sale, Manchester with MR. LAU at the helm. The family run business became famous over the years with a number of A-list celebrity guests attending Summer Palace. MR. Three generations later and it's Miss Lau, the grand-daughter of MR. LAU that carries on the family business.
